Further Notes
ACD - Fri 30/08/1850 - DRS; RPSGB. Services transferred to Gateshead (East) and Newcastle (Central).
The "via Greenesfield" alludes to the fact that this Newcastle & Darlington Junction Railway station, built primarily to accommodate services from the south, was also used by Newcastle & Carlisle Railway services, replacing their temporary terminus at Redheugh. As Greenesfield station was a terminus facing east, N&CR trains had to reverse in and out of the station. The line and station closed with the (phased) opening of Newcastle (Central) and N&CR services were concentrated on their Forth station until final completion of Central in December 1850. See Newcastle (Forth).
