The exact course of this section of line is proving very difficult to determine. The Railways of Dundee OL97 OP 1996 p32 shows a plan and section of the proposed branch dated 29 Nov 1845. The plan includes both an east to south and a west to south curve. Clearly the line as built followed a different alignment to the 1845 proposal, as can be seen from the accompanying map, where I have superimposed the proposed alignment on to the map showing the line as built. This is an approximation as the two maps do not match up exactly, despite adjusting the scales. It is apparent from the respective alignments that the W-S curve would have been a much sharper radius as built compared to the original proposal.
