ACD - Thu 01/05/1862 - RPSGB. C and DRS give 08/08/1861. According to DSW and RPSGB, this latter date was when the SD&LUR station was opened along with the line to Kirkby Stephen. The original Darlington & Barnard Castle Railway terminus continued in use until all services were transferred to the SD&LUR station from 01/05/1862.
