Further Notes

Whilst BRS suggests the station may have been located on the N side of Preston Rd. and all the available OS maps show the line terminating short of the road, Cobb shows the station sited to the S, adjacent to the jetty. An interesting article on the Lytham Heritage Group website 'Lytham dock' clearly states that the railway did, for a while at least, cross the road and run alongside the jetty. Where the line breeched the "embankment" (or levee) "to enable it to do so, a pair of wooden vertically-hung gates were inserted in the cop". These can be seen on the accompanying map. Unfortunately, the article doesn't mention the passenger station. If it was located S of the road crossing, it was more likely to have been near to the road.
Further information welcome.
