Further Notes
ACD - Sun 15/07/1883 - RPSGB.
Station replaced by new terminus to NE.
The exact location of this station is unclear. I have been unable to locate any contemporary maps showing this station. Some publications fail to mention it when recording the diversion of the line inland from 1851, perhaps assuming the new station was effectively on the same site as the old.
However, others, including RPSGB - "re-sited 13 February 1851"; Railways of Blackpool and the Fylde, Bairstow, 2001 p9 - "The station was rebuilt in connection with the new alignment"; Railscot - Fleetwood 1st; Cobb p391 all confirm the existence of a second Fleetwood station separate from the first. Given that the line of route to the 1883 station clearly occupies the site of the first station, an alternatyive station would have been necessary to facilitate construction of the extension whilst maintaining a passenger facility.
