This line, along with Arpley Jct. - Northenden Jct. continued in use by seasonal dated trains until LTR Sat 04/09/1971, the last being the 1625 SO Llandudno - York dated 12/06/1971 - 04/09/1971 - BLN 202 p79. See Ditton Jct. No.1 - Timperley Jct.; Glazebrook East Jct. - Heaton Mersey East Jct.
This entire section of line as well as Northenden Jct. - Skelton East Jct. RO - Mon 15/05/1989 with the rerouting via Stockport of the Manchester (Piccadilly) - Chester service, (M-S services only; Sunday services rerouted from 20/05/1990), in anticipation of the closure and conversion to Metrolink of the Cornbrook Jct. - Deansgate Jct.
