Further Notes

CL - Mon 22/09/1930; RO - Mon 18/07/1932 serving Llanberis only - CPLGBPNM 1980 p60.

ACD - Mon 11/09/1939 - RPSGB. Summer only service slightly curtailed due to emergency timetable - see below.

RPSGB states "Summer service began 25 May 1931 but not shown in Brad until 1932", presumably from 18/07/1932.

RPSGB p540 goes on to detail sporadic services (initially billed as "excursion trains") between 1932 and 1939.

To complicate matters further Padarn Halt, less than half a mile north of Llanberis, was opened from Sat 21/11/1936 for the convenience of local residents visiting the Saturday market in Caernarvon. DRS states trains subsequently ceased to serve Llanberis, using Padarn Halt instead; RPSGB suggests Llanberis continued to be served.

Closure in 1939 is equally convoluted. RPSGB states TT ending Sun 24/09/1939 gives Monday - Friday service ceasing after Fri 08/09/1939; Sunday service after Sun 10/09/1939; Saturday service after Sat 23/09/1939. Service ceased with the introduction of an emergency timetable from Monday 11/09/1939 following the outbreak of war.

Excursion trains resumed after WW2 (first 06/07/1948 - RM Jan/Feb 1949 p61), but these were not timetabled, although a table for the line continued to be shown but with "services suspended" or simply no trains shown.

Last excursion train ran on Fri 07/09/1962 - CPLGB; RPSGB.

**As if this wasn't enough, RPSGB states that "After 1930 no intermediate stations were shown in public tt". However, Pontrythallt, Cwm-y-Glo and Padarn Halt "remained in use".
