Further Notes
ACD - Mon 11/09/1939 - date RTS withdrawn and intermediate stations closed - RPSGB. PNM 1980 p83 gives ACD - Sun 10/09/1939.
Seasonal dated services probably continued until LTR - Sat 05/09/1964 - see below.
I have yet to confirm the exact details of services and dates to pinpoint with any confidence an accurate LTR date for this section of line.
RPSGB under entry for Clown South* station states "later summer Saturday use, reop 17 June 1961, last call 8 September 1962 (wtt)", but makes no reference to services operating. This clearly suggests that Clown station was reopened in addition to the section of line.
RoCR & Wikipedia refer to Manchester (Central/Piccadilly) - Skegness/Yarmouth using this line up to 05/09/1964. Passenger timetables do not specify exactly which route was taken from/to Sheffield (Victoria).
When the opportunity arises, I'll check the relevant WTTs, unless someone out there has the information they might wish to share.
*Clown (LDECR) is shown in the Aug 1939 Bradshaw as Clown in the tt column with a footnote "B Clown & Barlborough". No distinction is made between this station and Clown & Barlborough (MR) on the Staveley Passenger Jct. - Creswell Jct. line. However, the BR (LM) summer 1961 tt shows the latter station as Clowne & Barlborough. Except that at times either or both were spelled with or without the 'e'. Just for good measure, RPSGB states that Clown(e) (LDECR) was renamed Clown South from 18/06/1951 as a goods station. It presumably sported this name when 'reopened' for seasonal trains during 1961/2, hence at the time of closure? Or maybe not.
