Did services ever operate beyond Kew Bridge (N&SWJ) over New Kew Jct?
An unusual closure day with no apparent explanation. Given the date, bomb damage would be assumed, but London Railways, Course, 1962 p234 states, "A less significant withdrawal was that of the L.M.S. electric service to Kew Bridge in 1940. ......now the line is used exclusively by through trains...." This would tend to suggest otherwise.
Also RM Aug 1950 p576 'The Why and the Wherefore' piece confirms "The weekday train service between South Acton and Kew Bridge was withdrawn on Thursday, September 12, 1940. The line is still used for goods and special passenger traffic, but it has been announced officially that the local electrified services will not resume". This would suggest closure was originally a temporary measure.
