Further Notes
ACD - Sun 20/10/1940, due to bomb damage.
The following appears in RHRGB Vol 3 Greater London D&C 1987 p135 - "(Due to bomb damage) The advertised steam services ceased (Clapham Junction - Kensington (Addison Rd.)) on 20 October 1940 and the electric ones, LMS from Willesden and LT, now from Edgware Road, via Westbourne Park, on 3 and 20 October respectively."
PNM states Kensington (Addison Road) - Clapham Junction and Uxbridge Road Jct. - Latimer Road closed 20/10/1940.
RPSGB states "Clo 21 October 1940 by enemy action." Gives Chelsea & Fulham and Battersea CL 14/09/1940.
DRS states CL 21/10/1940, though no CL date given for Kensington (Addison Rd.).
DSW states line closed on and from 20/10/1940 due to bomb damage.
C LNWR Ch. states, "LPTB service between Edgware Rd and Kensington (Addison Rd) withdrawn 20 Oct 40", though there is no reference to bomb damage.
Given the conflicting information, what is clear is that the lines from Willesden No.1 (West London) Jct. - Uxbridge Road Jct. and Willesden High Level Jct. - Mitre Bridge Jct. were closed due to bomb damage on 3 October 1940 and likewise the line from Latimer Rd. Jct. - Ludgate GW Jct./Clapham Junction. on 20 October 1940.
Until evidence emerges to clarify this, closure dates recorded here are ACD.
