Further Notes

ACD - Mon 16/06/1947 - PNM 1980 p76. No Sunday service, LTR - Sat 14/06/1947. Withdrawal of passenger services and closure of intermediate station, due to fuel crisis. Originally intended as a temporary closure this, like many, became permanent. RM Oct 1951 p709 states: "It has been decided not to re-open Pinxton & Selston Station, between Mansfield and Pye Bridge, which was closed temporarily on June 16, 1947." No OCD is quoted but, as it appears sandwiched between other closures recorded from 10/09/1951, it is assumed this was the official date.

*Renamed Pinxton North 01/07/1950 - DRS ; (unusual, if not unique, in having a station renamed that was closed, albeit at the time temporarily, presumably betraying the intention to reopen it.)

And reopen it did, eventually! Briefly for the summers of 1958? and 1959 to 1961, these were advertised timetabled public services. BR(LM) 12 Jun - 10 Sep 61 Table 214 shows 7 25am SO Mansfield Town - Ambergate (Pinxton 7 41am) and 6 58pm SO Ambergate - Mansfield Town (Pinxton 7 20pm) - LTR Sat 09/09/1961.

Finally, RPSGB states that Pinxton North ended up as "just" Pinxton at time of LTR, having been renamed again on some unspecified date - (when closed, again?!).

Just for good measure, workmens' service continued to 06/09/1965.
