In 1935 the layout around Briton Ferry was remodelled and rationalised. The former Rhondda & Swansea Bay Railway route between Baglan Jct. and Court Sart through Briton Ferry East station was effectively closed with the installation of new connections to the GW main line - see Vernon Jct. (1935 connection) - Court Sart (1935 connection). South of Briton Ferry a 'flying' (actually diving) junction was created for the R&SB line to Aberavon, Cymmer and Treherbert - see map RCH RJD141.
