Bideford - Torrington temporarily RO - Wed 10/01/1968 due to damaged road bridge across river at Bideford. Rail service operated January 10, 11, 13 and 15-20 (inclusive). LTR - Sat 20/01/1968 - for full details see RPSGB p544.
PNM 1980 p16 states "Barnstaple Jn - Bideford RO" and RM Mar 1968 p180 "Railway to the rescue in Devon" states "Collapse of the road bridge.....led to a decision to re-open to passengers the Barnstaple to Torrington branch", with subsequent reference to ".....the emergency service to Bideford and Torrington".
Detailed contemporary accounts appear in BLN 98 p3 and BLN 104 p4 which clearly state that the service operated between Bideford and Torrington only, in connection with a bus shuttle service to/from Bideford town centre.
