N.B. Given my change of policy regarding closure dates in relation to RTS (regular timetabled services) and SDS (seasonal dated services), (see Introduction - Criteria - 5. Definition of Closure to Passengers), this line presents a dilemma. Strictly speaking the ACD should be 26/09/1938 as this was when RTS ceased and subsequent services would be classed as SDS. However, up to 30/09/1946 local stations were served and throughout to final closure the services were line-specific, unlike most holiday dated trains that happened to use a line en route. In a way it falls between the two proverbial stools. I've decided to leave as is, rightly or wrongly.

*The various names given to this station are worthy of a book in their own right. B921 Apr 1910 refers to Windermere (L. S.) in the table, but simply includes it under Windermere in the index. B1068 Jul 1922 refers to Lake Side, Windermere in the table and the index. B1379 Jul 1948 gives Lake Side in the table and LakeSide (sic), Windermere in the index. The final timetable, BR(LM) 14 Jun 65 - 17 Apr 66 Table 110, gives Lakeside in the table and Lake Side (Windermere Lake) in the index. RPSGB and RCH L&CD 1933 show Windermere Lake Side. There may be more.

What the actual station signs said is for others to find out. Suffice to say that the BR "totems" read Lake Side. Apparently.

Haverthwaite - Lakeside RO - Sun 20/05/1973 by the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway as a preserved tourist line.
