"Scheduled to close from December 29, the former Midland line.....was actually closed early on Saturday, December 27.....a cutting at Fishponds was blocked by a landslide, believed to have been caused by a seven-ton lorry parked above the cutting on waste ground.....it was decided not to clear it, but to close it there and then" - RM Mar 1970 p168. LTR unknown as exact time is not stated.
Nor is the fate of the lorry.....
