Further Notes
ACD - 05/01/1970 - withdrawal of RTS - RoCR; PNM 1980 p70.
RO - 07/05/1973 - previously SDS now all year round service - regular route for trains between Sheffield and York not booked to stop at Pontefract Baghill - BLN 224 p54; PSUL 1972-3 amendments p1.
ACD - 04/10/1982 - line no longer in 'regular use' - PSUL 1982-3 p8.
This section of line has subsequently seen occasional use, primarily as a diversionary route, but also for timetabled services. The RAoGB shows the line as a red (freight) route with the dagger symbol denoting 'Freight line used for passenger diversions and with regular all year passenger timetabled services, usually for traincrew knowledge retention'. This is the liminal world of the post-privatisation era, where the definition of a line open or closed to passenger services can be blurred, to say the least.
